Where did this letter come from? This letter originated in Burbank, California by use of a blind proxy, i.e. a backdoor that's open at a company located in that area. The letter says it's from Amsterdam and very well may be. Please notice that the return address is not @redcross.org which would be the return address for The American Red Cross, and that the TO line reads the same. The phone number is for a mobile phone in The Netherlands, and the fax number has nothing to do with The Netherlands. In all likelihood, it's a satellite phone number. Additionally, the Red Cross does not ask for donations by unsolicited email, nor does the Red Cross ever suggest the use of Moneygrams or Western Union. This is more along the lines of a Nigerian Scam Letter. Donations to the Red Cross can be made at your local chapter or online at http://www.redcross.org/donate/donate.html. |
