Announcements, Notices, New at Fraud-Aid.com:
June 2nd, 2005
In
the works: Fraud-Aid Alerts
Most of you have noticed that
Fraud-Aid now has a free monthly online ezine. To supplement to the
ezine, Free Fraud-Aid Alerts will be coming
out on June 15th. As new frauds, twists, methods, and sometimes laws
that affect how you need to protect yourself come to our attention,
Fraud-Aid Alerts will be sent to subscribers so they can arm themselves in
a timely manner.
A new subscription page will be
created that will give you the choice of signing up for the
Free Fraud-Aid Online eZine or the
Free Fraud-Aid Alerts or both. (To
subscribe to the eZine now, write to
subscribe@fraudaid.com).
Coming
in July: The New FAQ
No matter how hard we try to
keep up with letters from victims and concerned parties, we just can't do
it and that makes us feel terrible.
Many of the letters we receive
ask the same questions, but with just enough variations that using a form
letter of some kind would only be insulting to the recipient.
Last week, one of our private supporters who is aware of the
problem graciously bought us a program that will allow you to interact
with your Frequently Asked Questions. We will constantly be adding
to the available answers so that more and more of your questions can be
instantly answered, even if the question is a bit unusual.
As a bonus, I've been lining up experts who will compose
answers on different fraud subjects so that if one person's answer doesn't
hit the mark, maybe someone else's answer will.
Look for the announcement of The
New FAQ in the July issue of the
Fraud-Aid Online eZine, in the
Fraud-Aid Alerts (coming June 15th, by
subscription only), and on Fraud-Aid.com web pages.

March 2005
Fraud-Aid.com impersonators: For the 5th time in the last 18
months, I've been alerted to scammers informing their targets that they
are associated (in one way or another) with Fraud-Aid. This last one
is claiming to be a member of my Board. Sorry folks, until I go
non-profit I don't have a Board.
If anyone contacts you or someone you know, claiming to be
part of Fraud-Aid.com, please contact me at once to verify. Don't
just take their word for it. Do your homework, perform your due
diligence. There is only one Fraud-Aid. Only one volunteer is authorized to contact victims,
and only 2 members of the Advisory Council are authorized to do so as
well; but no one - not one of us - ever contacts a victim or a concerned
party unless the
victim or the concerned party has first contacted Fraud-Aid.

Fraud-Aid opens
an on-going series of articles, in plain language as always,
explaining computer invasions and infections and how they put you at
severe risk of Identity Theft. As a matter of fact,
Identity Theft is almost a certainty if you open any Spam or ScamSpamä
emails. Examples:
Firewalls and backdoors
"... So... if I
install a firewall I'm safe, right? ... Not
entirely. Your firewall is only your first line of defense..."
Trojan
horses: How they get into your computer - destruction in disguise.
" ... a program is installed on your computer that may do
no more than change the appearance of your desktop, or it may run around
deleting documents, deleting software, and opening a
backdoor for hackers to get into your computer."
What is a
backdoor?
"What they are, how they are used to invade a computer
network or a personal computer..."

of the Metropolitan Police (Scotland Yard).
The Metropolitan Police does not refer to itself
as Scotland Yard in its correspondence. Fraud-Aid is

are

April 25, 04:
Welcome to the online database of forged Fraud-Aid.com
emails. Just like everyone else, Fraud-Aid is always under attack
by the usual mischief-makers who send out malicious email; but on top of
that, we also come under specific attack by email swindlers. The worst of
these is the virus and worm-laden email that is sent out using (forging)
Fraud-Aid's email addresses. Now you can see where these emails are
actually coming from, and proof that they are sometimes sent out by the
very swindlers I have reported to their ISPs and email services (see
this letter).
