Letter Source: This letter appears to have originated
in New York with no attempt at misdirection, but possible attempts at
cloaking the source according to eMailTrackerPro.
The IP address,
196.3.62.3,
is listed on a scam alert web site
http://www.terrificpets.com/scams/scam.asp?bad=1238 showing that it
was also used in a Nigerian money laundering scam (Overpayment Fraud,
Counterfeit Check Fraud) involving the purchase of bulldog puppies.
Bulldogs are a popular scam subject and we hear from many breeders and
buyers who have been taken in by an Overpayment Scam.
The IP is also being used by a Nigerian
HYIP web site containing the usual fraudulent promise of grandiose
returns. For your information, HYIP or hyip is the acronym for
High-Yield Investment Program, which is a financial fraud.
Altogether, this is not a healthy IP
address.
