Doctorates:

Many financial scam artists, especially if they are foreign, will call themselves Dr. this or Dr. that.  Don't believe it!  Ask them what their doctorate is and then check on it.  If you find out that their doctorate is a sham and ask them about it, they will tell you that it is necessary to use the title because foreign financial authorities or government authorities give more credence to someone with a doctorate.
