Woman Falls Victim to Secret Shopper Scam

A Fort Collins woman thought she'd gotten a job as a secret shopper-where people get  hired to shop, then rate their experience. But the biggest secret Jackie Ballard uncovered was, it was too good to be true.      

Now, the unemployed, single mother is out $7,100 to her bank.         

She got a letter last week telling her she'd been hired and her first assignment was to judge the quality of service at a money-wiring store inside a Ft. Collins Wal-Mart.
 

They sent her a $2,700 cashier's check, told her to deposit it into her checking account, then wire most of the money to a person in Canada. She was to keep $300 as payment for the job. She was also to pay attention to the service she received and fill out a report documenting it
