(12/06/06 - RALEIGH) - AG Cooper warns consumers about identity theft and counterfeit check scams
Attorney General Roy Cooper will warned consumers about identity theft and recent counterfeit check scams at a press conference sponsored by the North Carolina Bankers Association on Wednesday, December 6, at 10 AM.
Cooper talked about his continuing efforts to fight identity theft and will offer tips to help consumers to protect their good names. He also warned consumers about scammers who send out counterfeit checks as part of phony lottery pitches and scams involving online sales.

Bankers Association Security Committee Chairman and CEO of North State Bank Larry Barbour will host the event. FBI Special Agent in Charge for North Carolina Nathan Gray will also talk about bank robberies.
The event will take place at the Bankers Association offices at 3601 Haworth Drive in Raleigh.
